Blowing Rock Home Tour

Stonehenge

Fresh Flowers Abound at the Blowing Rock Home Tour

It was time for a "me" day. I knew that when I woke up at 5:30 in the morning that I was going. So I loaded up my car, loaded in the CDs I wanted to listen to and headed out the door.

Blowing Rock is a quaint little town with some beautiful landscaping, plus some great little shops
on Main Street. Having been to the town before, I was ready to be inspired! All I remembered was that I loved the flowers and wanted to go back. However, this is the first year that I have attended the home tour.

Home tours are great opportunities to get ideas and see how others utilize space. Every home was different and we saw something creative and interesting in each home. While you are standing in line, you got a chance to talk with people in front and back of you. They had traveled from all over the state to get there. All were politely waiting even though it was warm in the sun, not to mention that you got to get your walking in.

After the tour, I rode, some walked, back to the church for a boxed lunch and more conversation. Then we took a stroll through the Main Street shops and picked up some home-made ice cream from Kilwin's. That Chocolate Caramel Crunch was delicious!

By the time late afternoon rolled around, we headed to our cars to head down the mountain. While listening to tapes, I got back home before I realized it. It was such an enjoyable day. I know that this event will be going on my calendar next year, and I hope that some of you will be able to come to. Thanks, Davetta, this was a great idea.
